How to convert JPG to AVIF
- Choose a JPG or JPEG file and wait for its preview to appear.
- AVIF is already selected. Adjust the quality, then select Convert to AVIF.
- Download the AVIF file and check its appearance in the app or website where you plan to use it.
Create an AVIF version of a JPEG photograph for a site that supports AVIF. Check fine textures, text and gradients after conversion. Encoding may take longer, and the smallest file is not always the best-looking result.
What changes in your image
Your JPG file
JPG and JPEG are two filename extensions for the same format. Both are accepted here. Re-encoding cannot restore details already lost to JPEG compression.
Your AVIF result
AVIF output supports transparency and adjustable quality. Encoding runs in a local worker and may take longer on a phone. Check that the destination supports AVIF.
Original metadata is removed. Keep your original file if you need camera details, color profiles or an archival copy. Conversion does not guarantee a smaller download.
