How to convert ICO to AVIF
- Choose a ICO file and wait for its preview to appear.
- AVIF is already selected. Adjust the quality, then select Convert to AVIF.
- Download the AVIF file and check its appearance in the app or website where you plan to use it.
Create an AVIF image from a browser-decoded ICO frame. The result is a single image, not a multi-size icon container. For a tiny icon, AVIF may offer little size benefit, so compare the actual downloaded file.
What changes in your image
Your ICO file
An ICO file can contain several image frames. Your browser selects the frame it decodes; the preview shows the image that will be converted, not every embedded size.
Your AVIF result
AVIF output supports transparency and adjustable quality. Encoding runs in a local worker and may take longer on a phone. Check that the destination supports AVIF.
Original metadata is removed. Keep your original file if you need camera details, color profiles or an archival copy. Conversion does not guarantee a smaller download.
